Kasey needs help getting to Carnegie Hall

Do YOU know how to get to Carnegie Hall? We do! And our High School Varsity Choir needs YOUR help!
See the TV news video here: http://www.youtube.com/ksprnews

The cost PER person is $1,800.00 before food. Kasey still needs $900.00 by May 1st to go on this trip. We are not able to pay it for him and he has been working VERY hard 5-6 nights a week and putting 1/2 his pay to the trip and the other 1/2 to his mission/college fund.
Please help Kasey in any amount you can spare and send to the school address below, but please put Kasey's name on the check so that it is credited directly to his account and be sure to watch this YOU tube video- Kasey is the main speaker- I think you will be surprised at how he has grown up! We are very proud of the young man he is and what a joy he is to have in our home!

The Logan-Rogersville High School Varsity Choir has been invited to travel to New York City this May to sing at Carnegie Hall under the direction of renowned composer, John Rutter. They will be performing with several other high school and college groups from around the country.

Approximately 58 people, including students and a few chaperones, will be getting on a bus headed to New York on May 21, 2009. Needless to say, taking that many people to New York costs about as much as a small house! (it’s a min of $1,800.00 PER person for this trip not including their food)
This is where YOU come in!
We NEED your help!
Monetary donations of ANY amount are welcomed and greatly appreciated. They can be sent to Travis Graham at the High School (checks made out to LRHS Choir Carnegie Hall project).
Donations are tax deductible.
And if you would like to directly donate to Kasey, just put his name at the top of the check- donated on behalf of Kasey Mangelson.

Send your tax deductible donations By May 1st, 2009 to:

Logan Rogersville High School Choir
C/O Travis Graham
4700 S. State Highway 125
Rogersville, MO 65742

Thank you!!!

Finally an Update

Sorry it has been so long since the last update. For those of you who check the blog every day we will try to do better. Hopefully we will get a few more people posting so we can keep it more up to date.

Grandpa, (your Grandpa Schlappi), is doing about the same. Healthwise, he is well and is eating pretty good. He enjoys the chair that your dad purchased with Grandpa's funds. It's one of those that will raise you up nearly to your feet. It's also a recliner where he takes his afternoon naps. I bought him one of those snuggies that you see on T.V., (a blanket with sleeves and pockets...royal blue of course for BYU), and he enjoys using that since he always seems to be cold. He uses it for his naps and when he sits in the wheelchair.

As far as mobility, it doesn't look good. We had hoped that the P.T.'s would be able to teach him how to move from his bed to his wheelchair or from his wheelchair to a regular chair. The Therapists made your Dad sign a paper that said therapy was being dis-continued because he was resisting when they tried to give it to him.

As far as being lucid or "with it", that comes and goes. I feel that he has made progress in that area the past two weeks. He still has days though, when he is out of it.

On Friday March 20th, Dad and I had a special experience together. His mind was very clear and our conversations were very "with it". After visiting for about 30 minutes, I was prompted to offer him a comfort blessing. He was very willing. The spirit was strong and he heard and understood every word. He had tears in his eyes when I finished. Another prompting came. I asked him if he would give me a "Father's blessing". He said "I can do that". He was in his wheelchair, so I knelt down by his side and he placed his hands on my head and with no help what so ever, he said the correct ordinance requirements for the blessing and gave me a very beautiful, specific, blessing. A general authority couldn't have given me a better blessing for my needs that day than my Dad did. I know the Lord spoke through him because things that were said and that I needed to hear, only the Lord knew. I had not prompted Dad as to what I needed in the blessing, the Lord literally spoke through him. We were both crying when he finished. Of all the blessings he has given me throughout my life...I will never forget that one!

I hope all is well with you and your families. Keep checking the blog!

Love,
Uncle Roger/Dad/ brother/ whatever our relationship is.
